Gateway's limited warranty covers only those defects which arise as a result of normal use of the product, and do not apply to any:
1. Improper or inadequate maintenance;
2. Products not distributed by Gateway;
3. Unauthorized modification or misuse;
4. Operation outside the product's environmental specifications, including duty cycle abuse or use of a mechanical switchbox without a designated surge protector;
5. Use of non-supported printing media or memory boards;
6. Improper site preparation or maintenance.
For HP plotters, if plotter failure or damage is attributable to the use of a non-P or refilled print cartridge, Gateway will charge its standard time and materials charges to service the printer for the particular failure or damage.
If Gateway receives, during the applicable warranty period, notice of a defect in a hardware product which is covered by Gateway's warranty, Gateway shall either repair or replace the product, at its option. Any replacement product may be either new or like-new, provided that it has functionality at least equal to that of the product being replaced.
